iMINDS Nexus Capital invests in the securities of public and private companies on behalf of a limited group of members.
The firm
iMINDS Nexus Capital, LLC is a private investment vehicle organised in Wyoming. Its purpose is to purchase, hold and sell the securities of companies in public and private markets.
The firm exists because conviction is difficult to hold inside institutions built around quarterly comparison. Capital that must justify itself every ninety days cannot wait for a thesis to mature, and the discount that impatience creates is where we work.
We would rather answer to a small number of members who understand the horizon than to a large number who do not.
The firm began as a single-strategy vehicle and is structured to scale into a broader mandate over time.
Philosophy
Breadth is a hedge against not knowing. We would rather understand a handful of businesses well enough to act when the price is wrong than hold enough names to be approximately right about everything. A position earns its place by being among the best ideas we have, not by filling a gap in a grid.
We underwrite what can be lost before we estimate what might be made. Permanent impairment of capital is the risk that matters; price volatility is the cost of admission. If we cannot describe the conditions under which a thesis fails, we do not yet understand it well enough to own it.
The manager is invested alongside members, and carried interest is earned only above a stated preferred return.
Mandate
We look for businesses whose economics are better than their reputation, and whose difficulties are temporary, misunderstood, or both. Work begins with primary sources — filings, contracts, customers, the people who compete with a company — rather than with a screen. Size follows conviction and the quality of the downside, never the reverse.
We back a small number of private companies where we can be useful beyond the capital, and where the register is small enough that being useful still matters. Most opportunities reach us through operators and founders we already know. We invest where we would be content to hold for a long time without a mark.
